Full-Tilt Fireworks

Nashville. Light rain. Fourth of July.

MythicWe were just passing through on our way to Savannah. The prospect of seeing history made above our heads? That was not even on the agenda.

I had no idea that Music City stages one of the nation’s largest Independence Day fireworks displays. In fact, the city hoped to make 2015 the year their display surpassed all others. Nashville was planning the largest fireworks show in the US!

We made our way down Broadway to sit near the Bridgestone Arena. Bands were playing and the street was lined with vendors of all sorts. About 9:45 the show began. The Nashville Symphony accompanied the aerial extravaganza. Despite our less than perfect view it was a great show. The finale seemed to be, um… improvised. Or maybe they planned three finales? I’m not sure.

Nashville Fireworks

Jackie and I enjoyed our visit to Nashville. Highlights included the Parthenon (???) at Centennial Park, a crater in the middle of town, the farmers market and the Frist Museum. It was a great way to kick off our vacation, and we plan to return when we can spend more time exploring Music City, USA.

PS— if anyone knows whether the fireworks show really was the largest, please post a comment!
