Ever wondered what the weather did last night?
It’s easy to find radar images, animations, loops— even radar forecasts that guess what the next few hours will bring (the weather app in Windows 10 has one of the most impressive predictive radar animations I’ve found). But try to find the radar loop for the previous day. The pickings are very slim.
Some enterprising student at North Carolina State came up with a weather radar mosaic that allows you to step back through weather history. One hour at a time.
At first the site isn’t very impressive. Just a static image of the US. But mouse over the time range across the top and the radar pattern begins to move. Each hour of the previous day is available as a nationwide snapshot.
